Elie 57 2005

This page records some of our wonderful first year in Elie along with many of our numerous visitors. Some have stayed in greater luxury than others: Mike B came to stay the day we moved in and was lucky to have a mattress on the floor; Pooh, Katie and Jess were to be seen carrying their bed along the high street; and Mummy and Christopher arrived when the plumbers were doing their worst and had to resort to bathing in the sea. Ahhhh, Marr hospitality at its best!

• May 2005
  
  • I forgot to show the bathroom lamp shades - posterity needs to record them.
  • Then of course there is our visitors book and Mummy's visit.
  • Some photos of White Quarry and of puppies at 5 weeks.
  • And more photos of Scribble, this time at 7 weeks, just before we took her home.
  • I went back to Kilcoagh for Jess' confirmation. We had supper with Bear and Ben and Meg afterwards.
  • Scribble is now allowed to go to the beach. It is her favourite place. She is less convinced about baths!
  • Edward Gorey's Doubtful Guest springs to mind.
• June 2005
  
  • Sue and George came over from Canada and came to stay with Joy and Liz.
  • T, 2F, J and D came to stay. Wetsuits were worn, Scribble was thrilled to see great aunt Doodle, and much digging was done.
  • The electricians Andy and Bill have moved in. While they work inside, our teenage Scribbley has taken up gardening.
  • I went to Aberdeen stopping off in Stonehaven on the way.
  • Queeny came to town and trundled passed my office.
  • And finally some photos of Elie and Scribbley practising doggie paddle for Alex while he's away.
• July has been a pretty hectic month.
  
  • First Liz and Steve came to stay and worked tirelessly in the garden.
  • As did Mummy when she and Christopher came to stay.
  • They overlapped with Simon. We immediately put the newly improved garden to good use, having a BBQ.
  • Some photos of Scrabble at 15 weeks. Spot the difference between her and her sister, Tango.
  • Elie Fair, led by the Bowden-Smiths was great fun.
  • To bring July to a close, Daddy, Pooh, Katie and Jess all came to stay. While Dad did DIY, the rest of us went on the Chain Walk.
• August, September, October and November.
  
  • At the beginning of August Alex's granny celebrated her 90th birthday.
    
  • And Alex went to Beijing.
  • Less impressively Colin and Edith came to town.
  Unfortunately, my camera then broke down and the guarantee is in here. Hence no photos of the following:
  • Liz, Jean, Cally and Tam looking after Scribble while Alex and I had a wonderful week in a thirteenth century windmill in the Languedoc region.
  • Karen and Rob's wonderful wedding on block Island.
  • My Maths Centre taking off.
  • Andrew and Celeste's visit.
  • Scribble as she gets bigger, curlier and more and more amusing.
  • And most importantly, the perpetual chaos in our house as the joiner, the plumbers and the decorators come and go. We're hoping that the plumbers will come back!
